2021 Charity Christmas Dinner
On the evening of 23rd November, Tong De Association held 2021 Charity Christmas Dinner at Busan Baby Restaurant. This marked the third annual Charity Christmas Dinner hosted by Tong De Association.
At 18:30, the celebration began with Gary Leung and Eric singing Tong De Association’s anthem.
Anna, the president of the Association gave a brief speech on behalf of the committee. She reflected on the productive year of 2021, highlighting the effective work accomplished by the Tong De Association. Special thanks were extended to Susie, who led the Christmas event organising team. Anna conveyed best wishes for the coming year, hoping for everyone’s dreams to come true and for Tong De to continue thriving.
The projector played a highlights reel of Tong De Association’s activities in 2021, featuring lively and vivid scenes, capturing the journey the association has taken over the past year. In 2021, the pandemic is still stalking the world, filling life with fear and insecurity. Many associations were forced to halt their activities. However, according to the pandemic prevention requirements, the Tong De Association continued to host various activities as usual. These include hosting a SHOWTIME cooking competition (season 1), a gratitude event for the Chinese community’s mutual aid group during the pandemic, launching assistance programs for COVID-19 vaccination in the Chinese community, and participating in multicultural festival celebrations in South Australia. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Tong De Association remained resilient and unwavering in its commitment to serving the community.
Hong. Jing Lee, the Assistant Minister to the Premier of South Australia, extended Christmas greetings to the guests. Many distinguished guests attended the celebration, including Grant Stevens, South Australia’s police commissioner; SA Councillors on behalf of the mayor of Adelaide; members of the South Australian Multicultural Commission; CEO of South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS); leaders of Chinese Association in SA.
