Tong De Association’s Vaccine Education Seminar Receives Overwhelming Support, Demonstrates Commitment to Health Awareness
On 12th June, Tong De Association held a vaccine education seminar, promoting the knowledge and precautions regarding influenza and COVID-19 vaccine administration, which was hosted by member Leo Cai.
At the beginning, Dr. Peng Li, from Forward Medical GP clinic, explained vaccine-related knowledge, including analysis of this winter’s COVID-19 and influenza vaccine administration, the protective effects of the COVID-19 vaccine, reasons for recommending influenza vaccine administration, frequently asked questions, and provided a detailed introduction to Australia’s childhood vaccination and national vaccination plan.
Through Dr. Li Peng’s explanation, the audience gained a deeper understanding of vaccine administration and reinforced their understanding of the importance of vaccination. This further enhances the Chinese community’s awareness of the importance of influenza and COVID-19 vaccine administration.
Following that, Brian Liu from Medibank Private Health Insurance introduced the Australian healthcare system, emphasising the significance of purchasing private insurance under the public healthcare system. He also provided a detailed explanation of various products and services offered by Medibank that the Chinese community is most interested in.
Leila Pardon from the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood provided an overview of the specific work conducted at the Blood Donor Centre in South Australia. She also explained the current status of the blood bank in South Australia, along with the avenues and methods for blood donation. Leila advocated for more members of the Chinese community to participate in blood drives, emphasising the importance of donating renewable blood to save lives that cannot be restored.
After the seminar, Dr. Li Peng, Brian Liu, and Leila also individually addressed questions raised by attendees. Finally, a lucky draw was held, and lucky participants received a bottle of exquisite zodiac wine provided by the Swan Wine Group.
