With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases mingling with the winter flu season, the situation is getting intense. And with school holidays in Australia, lots of families are out and about travelling. The Australian Red Cross took to social media, stating that blood banks across Australia are once again in urgent need, they’re calling on everyone to step up and donate blood to ease the strain on hospital operating rooms.
On 27th July, in response to this call, the Tong De Association rallied some of its members to join a group blood donation drive at the Lifeblood Adelaide Donor Centre.
01 Taking Active Steps to Prepare
#Promoting Volunteer Spirit#
Earlier this week, when the blood drive notice was released, everyone eagerly joined the WeChat Group and expressed their willingness to participate in this meaningful activity. Unfortunately, many of them were unable to participate because of various reasons (recent vaccination, cold symptoms, recent travel, etc.).
2. Chinese Blood Donors Display Compassion
Through this blood drive, Tong De Association’s Red Cross account received over two litres of blood, which will save the lives of at least 12 patients.
We want to express our gratitude to all the volunteers who participated in this event, and also extend our thanks to the blood donation centre for providing a private space, delicious doughnuts, and free Upark parking!
03 Diligently Carry Out Public Welfare Activities
#Promotive Volunteer Spirit#
In the initial phase of the pandemic, the Tong De Association rallied volunteers through WeChat groups to assist local Chinese residents undergoing quarantine with daily necessities. They also hosted multiple vaccination events, informative talks, and counselling sessions, making tangible contributions to public health protection. The Tong De Association extends a warm welcome to more friends to join in!
Uniting the Chinese community, promoting the spirit of volunteerism.
